Gift in Will

Support Our Work
Leaving a gift in your will (or bequest) to Youthline is a very special act of kindness and a lasting gift that can serve young people well into the future.
Anyone can leave a bequest. Whatever the size of your gift, it will make a positive difference for years to come and is a heartfelt way to be a part of the services provided and help future generations.

How to Make a Gift in Your Will
Step 1) Make or Update Your Will
We recommend that you discuss your plans with your immediate family and seek advice from a legal advisor. You can draft your own will online, or make it with your lawyer. Some lawyers will write one for free. Public Trust has a free will template online.
The Community Law Centre provides free legal advice on Wills.
Step 2) Gift Wording to Include
Consider whether you want to leave a specific amount, whatever is left in the will after all other gifts have been distributed or a legacy gift.
Example wording:
• I give ( $ amount ) to Youthline, charity registration number CC20895.
• I give the residue of my estate to Youthline, charity registration number CC20895.
• I give ( X ) percent of the residue of my estate to Youthline, charity registration number CC20895.

Legacy Gift
A gift of your entire estate or a freehold property is the next level up and achieves something special.
Have it acknowledged
As a significant gift, you may want to talk to us about what you want it to go towards, if anything, such as suicide prevention, the helpline, or our young volunteers. Would you like to stay anonymous or would you like naming rights such as our annual counselling award?
Feel free to ring Trystan, Youthline CSI’s Director to discuss your gift in will on 033-794-794.
Include your reason, and include other relatives in your will
For significant legacy gifts we strongly recommend that you include the names of others who have an interest in your will, and provide them with a gift as well, even if it's small. Also, write why you chose to give Youthline the gift. This makes a judge more likely to follow your wishes in the rare case that your will is challenged. Sometimes extended family members don’t understand your desires. So, if you had and you wish others don’t have the same experience, then the rationale for such a significant gift is clearer.
Example wording:
• I give $25,000 to my siblings for their kindness, acknowledging they are also financially comfortable. I give $10,000 to each of my nephews and nieces.
• I give the residue of my estate to Youthline, charity registration number CC20895.
• I have been a volunteer youth coach for many years and have lost loved ones to suicide. I wish my legacy to be supporting young people by reducing youth suicide.
